" As someone who believes that access to healthcare and basic services are critical human rights, I want to try to help provide more opportunities to those from disadvantaged backgrounds to access these. I am particularly excited about outreach, as one of the most difficult roadblocks to getting essential services is simply knowing how to access them. Many people who have difficulty obtaining basic services due to conditions such as lack of Internet are likely to be the same people who cannot advocate for themselves. I hope that through outreach, I can help amplify the voices and needs of people who need certain services the most. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Student Health Outreach Program

Student Health Outreach Program (SHOUT) is a program sponsored by Columbia University Community Impact and the Food Bank for New York City. The mission of the program is to help educate and connect residents of the community with government benefits and social services. Our project centers around SMART because we make online referrals for our clients to social service agencies using a database supplied by the Food Bank for NYC.
