" "I'm so excited to be a Millennium Fellow! Not only will I get the opportunity to explore a topic that I'm deeply interested in, but I'll have a community that will be on this journey with me!" "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Drag It Up

I want to introduce people to drag, and through the medium, create dialogues about gender and gender performativity that question notions of gender and challenge the patriarchy. Through that, fostering inclusivity and reducing prejudices that have manifested in violence towards gender nonconforming individuals.

About the Millennium Fellow

Erick Zent is a rising junior at Columbia Univeristy, where he is studying political science and focusing on the intersection between displaces peoples and queerness. As a member of both of these groups, he hopes to explore the unique challenges that queer migrants face and fight against the preconceived notions that ail this community. As such, his projects aims at questioning gender through drag and asking difficult questions on gender expression. After he graduates, Erick wants to pursuee Juris Doctorate and work to advocate for queer migrants.
