University of Chittagong | Chattogram, Bangladesh | Advancing SDG 4 & UNAI 3

" I believe myself to be an idealist and constantly thinking about the betterment of society and earth, yet I find nothing closer to perfect than the SDGs for a bright future of mankind. I think successful implementations of SDGs are the key to a peaceful, better world, and I’m willing to use all my skills and creativity for such a world. Millennium Fellowship is such a stage where I can put my ideas and skills into force with the help of a large international alumnus and like-minded Fellows. The honor of being a Millennium Fellow is also truly meaningful and will help me with my future concerns. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Elysium For Tomorrow's Hope
Community Development Centre (CODEC) is a national NGO in Bangladesh that is implementing an education project for marginalized and vulnerable coastal children in Bagerhat, Bangladesh. We had an opportunity to attend a dialogue session with them through which we came to know about the project. Being motivated by their work and getting some help from them, we are planning to implement such a project in Chattogram, Bangladesh. The children of families who are below the poverty line and have faced problems since the start of COVID will be our main target members. Our main aim would be to bring the dropped-out-of-school children aged between 8-14 into mainstream educational institutions. Initially, we will do a field survey through which we will identify the children in the slum and surrounding areas of Sholoshohor in Chattogram city. Then we will provide them necessary non-formal education and life-skill trainings, eventually helping them to get into formal schools of the city. Through non-formal education we will fill the gap that has been created in their development due to their long time absence from education and through life-skill training, we will be able to help them become better people and be positive influencers in the society they grew up.
