" I am the beneficiary of boundless kindness and generosity. I can enjoy the education I have today because of a group of people who have worked hard to bring quality education to more "me". I believe that the best way to give back to the education I have enjoyed is to make a difference for young people younger than me. Bringing them knowledge and skills that they can enjoy for a lifetime, and creating an education that is accessible, acceptable, and affordable for them. I want to start with health education and camp education and explore ways to reach as many students in underdeveloped areas as possible with limited resources. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Hear-at Hearing Assisting Tool
The Hear-at Hearing Assisting Tool is to help people with hearing loss to have quick and easy access to help or services under some essential circumstances, including hospitals, accidents, public transportation, etc. We want to create a tool not or little base on the voice-word translating tool but on basic icons and buttons.
About the Millennium Fellow
Yanming Shen is an open, young, education-enthusiastic undergraduate from Duke Kunshan University majoring in Data Science. Growing up in a rural neighborhood, he has experienced different levels and qualities of education, from which he developed an understanding of K-12 education in rural China. Throughout high school and currently in the second half of his college life, he has successfully founded and run several educational projects and camps for students to bond with the most updated knowledge and concepts. Through his effort, he will continue to reach out to more youth across the country. By joining the Millennium Fellowship, he wants to share his story with young game-changers worldwide and provide his effort to the UN Sustainable Goals.
