" I am very passionate about providing help to those in need. Coming from a country where so many people suffer and die from illnesses that can be easily prevented and cured fuel my passion for my philanthropic contributions in providing healthcare services to people in need when ever I can. I am excited to meet like-minded individuals, gain more insight and make an impact. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project H.I.F.A.-Delta

The project was borne out of the identification of poor health seeking habit as one of the major contributors to poor outcomes at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital, Oghara. This is as a result of low income with resultant self-medication as a cheaper alternative. The consequence of this is late presentation with poor prognosis. Having identified the primary issue, a group of medical students, currently undergoing clinical training at the teaching hospital, willing to change this narrative, birthed this project and applied through the United Nations Academic Impact – Millennium Campus Fellowship.
we realize that in the midst of abundance of health insurance schemes, the enlightenment about being covered is not widespread. Project HIFA-Delta targets indigenes of Delta State Nigeria to have as much individuals as possible registered under this scheme. the scheme offers free healthcare to pregnant women and children under 5 years of age. the relevance of this project is to get other individuals not captured in the above-mentioned groups, through enlightenment and where available, insurance premium subsidization, to become beneficiaries of the scheme. this is a step in actualizing the UCH 2030 where health is recognized as a basic right.
