I am thrilled to begin this Fellowship and learn all I can." "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Panthers Reducing Waste
Part 1: Food Waste
Designate a space in the university center for excess food from events so students and faculty can come get it for free instead of throwing it away.
Part 2: Textile Waste
Create a “university closet” where students can exchange unused clothes for other previously donated items at no charge. Also, host an event educating students about the impacts of fast fashion.
Part 3: Energy Waste
Talk to building managers about turning up the air conditioning and turning more lights off at night. This would save energy and money, while also making the buildings a more comfortable temperature.
Part 4: Single-use waste
Place glass recycling bins on campus and partner with a company that will recycle the glass into sand. Also, work with faculty and student clubs who are currently in the process of eliminating unnecessary single use plastics on campus.
