Florida International University | Florida, United States | Advancing SDG 12 & UNAI 9
" Being a Millennium Fellow will grant me the opportunity to build connections in my community and make a difference across my university. I want to inspire others to make a difference and to stand for what they stand on, and the Millennium Fellowship is giving me the opportunity to do just that. I am thrilled to be a Millennium Fellow and can’t wait to get to know people who are passionate about the same things I am while also learning about their interests and passions as well. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Panthers Reducing Waste
Our project is seeking to reduce the use of single-use plastics on the Florida International University Modesto Maidique Campus (FIU MMC). We would like to work with faculty to reduce plastics on campus, and work with the student body to make changes in the restaurants on campus. We want to host events where we can educate the student body about our mission and why it is important. We will educate them on how to recycle and how to be a part of the solution. We will give them the opportunity to sign a joint statement after the events to help us quantify how many people we have reached and bring it to administration and show them that students want change to happen on our campus.
