Millennium Fellowship Project: Panthers Reducing Waste
This project is to promote sustainability (preserving the enviroment), by one reducing food waste. Think about all the times that you have taken an extra apple or or an extra pastry at our canteen? What have you done with it? Have you eaten it or have you just thrown it away? Well did you know that right now many of us tend to think that excess food can just be thrown away, thus leading to all the actions taken to even make the food itself or processed just all go to waste. This leads to a perfectly good apple just rot. But guess what! We are here to change that! By implementing a system that will allow for the extra food that you may not know what to do with, to actually go back
About the Millennium Fellow
Venus Dinou is a gifted, driven, and passionate pre-medical nutritional science student here at Florida International University. Born in Italy, and raised by a strong, culturally aware, impactful African home, and raised in South Florida. Venus has been exposed to the world from the start. Due to her exposure to several diverse communities, Venus has formed a deep rooted facination into how to best serve others, and quickly realized that change happens from the ground up and not just from the top. Including the fact that all people want, is to be seen, heard, and to be understood. With her quick wits, and strong Christian background, she has strived to be a leading voice for others and becoming a bridge for active change from a place of understanding and not only statistics. Throughout her pre-collegiate and current collegiate years, Venus not only pioneered and lead countless new and innovative initiatives, but made sure to foster and mentor her peers, and learn the ins and out of her future career from the bottom; as a transporter at the hospital which she recalls fond memories of. Without a doubt, Venus has proven to be a successful leader, however, she believes there is still much more work that needs to occur to help her future patients communities. With the belief that everyone and anyone that has blood pumping in their veins (needs to be seen and heard), her faith, and her strong determination to see active change Venus aspires to advocate for the United Nation's Sustainability Goal to reduce food waste and food insecurity.
