Millennium Fellowship Project: Lassa Fever Intervention

It is no good news that Lassa fever is becoming a preeminent ravaging disease in my community, Nasarawa state, Nigeria. Lassa fever is a viral disease that is spread by rats. The virus that causes Lassa fever, Lassa virus is spreading fast and it has lead to the death of two medical doctors through contact with an infected patient. They died shortly in less than 30 days after been infected. This shows how dangerous the virus can be.

To stop this disease, the spread of the virus has to be reduced to the barest minimum. And to stop the spread of the virus, the most crucial part is to educate the citizens, community members about lassa fever most especially on how it can be prevented and controlled.

However, I will like to volunteer myself to take up the responsibility to educate and to create awareness of Lassa fever by engaging the community through various channels and also set up environmental control strategies and campaigns. And in other to accomplish my duties effectively, I will collaborate with government agencies, non governmental organizations, community leaders and concern individuals.
