Millennium Fellowship Project: Lassa Fever Intervention

Lassa fever is becoming a preeminent ravaging disease in my
community, Nasarawa state, Nigeria. Lassa fever is a viral disease that is spread by
rats. The Lassa virus is fast spreading and has lead to
the death of two medical doctors through contact with an infected patient.
To stop this disease, the spread of the virus has to be minimized
The most important aspect of stoping this disease is by creating public awareness about the virus where
community members are educated about lassa fever and most especially it's prevention and control.
However, I have chosen to volunteer myself to take up the responsibility to educate and
to create awareness of Lassa fever by engaging the community through various
channels and also set up environmental control strategies and campaigns . And in
other to accomplish my duties effectively, I will collaborate with
other members of the team, government agencies,
non governmental organizations, community leaders and concerned individuals.
