" Community development has always been at the front of my mind. Being a Fellow will enhance my passion to address one of the global issues affecting our communities and finding solutions to them with peers.
I am excited to use this distinction in my future social impact work by liaising with my peers to help my community understand and be aware of mental health and the issues
surrounding it. The skills I gain from the Millennium Fellowship will help me take my social impact to the next level as I will meet people who are also interested in the cause. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Mental Health Awareness

Depression is one of the leading causes of disability while suicide is the second leading cause of death among 15-29-year-olds.
People with severe mental health conditions die prematurely – as much as two decades early – due to preventable physical conditions.
The proposed project is to make people aware and recognise that our psychological well-being is an important part of our health, happiness, and productivity.
The proposed project is to hold events to increase understanding and reduce stigma in the people of my community. To curb the high rate of depression and suicide in the community.
