Millennium Fellowship Project: School Certificate Examination Scholarship
Growing up, I was brought to the understanding that people drop out of high school due to a lack of funds to cater to their academic needs. Even more alarming is the fact that most of them drop out in their final year because they can’t afford the fee to be eligible to seat for the Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (SSCE) examination. This results from the terrible economic situation in my country and the slightly exorbitant fees charged for the examination. I’ve witnessed several students get sent out during examinations in the name of debtors. This of course hurts the psyche of the students in the long run.
In Nigeria where I am based, one of the school certificate examinations recognized is handled by the body West African Examination Council (WAEC). The successful completion of this examination has grown to be one of the most important criteria for any student to further his/her education in tertiary institutions in Nigeria or any other West African country. The sole aim of this project is to help as many students as possible with the payment of their WAEC examination fee and help them focus on their examination proper. Ensuring that they are coming out with flying colors and not having to retake the examination.
