" Being a Millennium Fellow allows me to meet people who share my beliefs and are dedicated to changing the world one person at a time. I am excited about this privilege. My work stems from a place of empathy for people that have to deal with health issues that could have been prevented if they were not ignorant; those that lose loved ones to diseases and infections that were not detected early; and people living with hepatitis and other viral infections that face stigmatization. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Empatitis

Many people live with health issues without being aware of them. Some people are also victims of stigmatisation. Most of the time, stigmatization occurs because of the ignorance of people.
Awoyeye Fehintoluwa leads a project to address the stigmatization of people living with viral infections like hepatitis.
To raise awareness about hepatitis A, B, and C; inform people about its causes, symptoms, and prevention; get people tested and vaccinated; stand against stigmatization of victims; and correct the common misconceptions about hepatitis and other viral infections. The aim is to teach people to show empathy towards people living with hepatitis.

During the Millennium Fellowship period (August–December 2022), Project Empatitis will hold at least 3 events, including but not limited to online workshops and campaigns. We plan to reach at least 300 people.
