United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. Over 31,000 young leaders on 2,400+ campuses across 140+ nations applied to join the Class of 2022.  200+ campuses worldwide (just 8%) were selected to host the 3,000+ Millennium Fellows.

I believe in helping others and creating an impact in my society, and to do this well, one has to be fully equiped with all the necessary required imformation.Thus my main reason for joining this program; to increase my knowledge. Being a Millennium Fellow will help me better serve my community and attain my goals. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Feame' Padher 2000

Feame' mean Creativity in wollof, a national dialect in the Gambia. Our 'Feame' Padher 2000: is a project that we intend to create 2000 reusable pads and distribute it among Junior and Senior school students in Greater Banjul Area by June 2023. Our vision is to see every young girl have access to reusable menstrual hygiene items and to see a well-informed generation of girls. Our team is already set, we are seeking Assistance to commence operation as soon as possible. Also, 98% of shop owners are male and often do not pay attend to pad sizes, affordability and quality. We want to be that, one trusted Women-led Movement that fight against Poor Menstrual Hygiene. A girls problem been solved by a girl.

About the Millennium Fellow

Binta Ceesay is a passionate, dedicated and hardworking student of the University of the Gambia. Major in English Language and Management minor. She has over six years of volunteerism history during school and at community level. She is an advocate for the 3rd, 4rd, 5th and 6th Sustainable Development Goals. She starts a business called 'Feame' Feminine Tailoring and Handicrafts. We create re-usable pads and menstrual hygiene kit for females in the Gambia especially students, to promote the hygienic management of periods among females in the Gambia.
