I hope the Fellowship will allow me to spread the message about the importance of sustainable practices to a larger community group and inspire people to make positive changes and reduce their environmental impact. Being a Millennium Fellow will also allow me to learn more about other Sustainable Development Goals and how I can contribute to creating a more sustainable future for all. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Griffith University Community Garden
An on-campus community garden to equip the next generation with the required skillset and ignite ambitious change. The Griffith University community garden will aid inbembedding sustainability into Griffith staff and students from an education viewpoint and from hands-on experience. Through gardening, learning and sharing knowledge students and staff will learn valuable skills, enjoy healthy, fresh, affordable produce and develop a connection with the food they consume and the environment they live in. Ultimately this will work towards creating healthier individuals and more sustainable and responsible communities. Similarly, the garden will provide the Griffith community with the option to participate in physical activity while encouraging positive well-being. In addition, the space has the potential to serve as an educational hub for further learning (i.e workshops etc.).
About the Millennium Fellow
Courtney McCreery is an undergraduate student undertaking the Bachelor of Science Advanced (Honours) at Griffith University, QLD, Australia. Courtney is passionate about sustainability and the environment and makes conscious decisions toward living more sustainably and reducing her environmental impact. She hopes the Fellowship will provide an opportunity to connect with like-minded people and spread the message about the importance of sustainable practices to a larger community group. Courtney aims to inspire others to make positive changes in their lives and reduce their impact on the environment.
