" The name of my project is "Medtalk" which aims to globalise medical knowledge and promote public health on a global scale by teaching laypeople about the nursing care behind different diseases as well as providing the patients with a more comprehensive understanding of their symptoms and diagnoses. Through the Millennium Fellowship , I have the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals and become a part of a global network of change-makers that are working to make the world a better place. As a part of a cohort of Millennium Fellows in HKU, I can convene to learn from my peers and have others challenge my idea in improving the world. By learning what my plan's strengths and weaknesses are, it inspires me to think bigger, and create a campus-wide sustainability initiative. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: NurseTalk
It has come to my attention that many people feel disoriented after they were diagnosed with chronic illness or were discharged from hospitals, as they lack the medical knowledge and skills to take care of themselves or their loved ones. Therefore, I aim to develop a platform which can contribute to globalising medical knowledge and equalise the chance for everyone to have access to medical knowledge. NurseTalk as a platform with a collection of simple yet comprehensive short video clips (within 5 mins) to promote public health by educating the public about various nursing skills and the way to deal with various emergencies. Bit-sized videos on websites facilitate easy access to the videos, and promote nursing skills throughout the community, and lower the readmission rate after discharge.
