Millennium Fellowship Project: Voluntary Teaching And Assistance For Chinese Children In Minor Groups During Covid-19

In our program, direct interaction with children in a migrant community will be carefully prepared by our service team in order to enrich their after-school life and establish effective bonds between one another. Due to the lack of care and company received by migrant children, we are maintaining this long-term interaction to compensate for their loneliness resulted from the absence of their parents in their growth. Furthermore, it is reported that due to the lack of educational resources and extracurricular activities, migrant children are generally limited to narrow horizons. Thus, we are planning to set “Exploring traditional beauty” as our topic in an attempt to enhance children’s curiosity and awareness of traditional art and culture, as well as to improve their understanding of valuable history in China, which is an easily overlooked part in child education in mainland China. With our persistent efforts, we believe our team would make a great difference to migrant children’s life.

About the Millennium Fellow

Zhou Ziyi (Ellen) has always thought of herself as a global citizen; she was born in Japan, resided in China for a decade, and is currently studying Statistics and Mathematics at the University of Hong Kong. She is bright, young, globally competitive, and constantly seeks opportunities to give the minors a helping hand. Throughout her university period, she has leadingly organized a few voluntary teaching and supporting schemes to encourage and help Chinese children with low-income family backgrounds, insufficient educational resources, and psychological problems. Through her effort, she wishes that Chinese children in minorities could enjoy a better life. She expects this wish to come true one day, with confidence and hope.
