" India is the second-largest country by population, with 26% of its population illiterate.
Belonging to a semi-urban district of Odisha, my childhood was spent observing people
living in slums across the canal bank in small huts. I have seen them bathe in the
same canal water where pigs and cattle used to clean. Those children never went to
school and did not get any education. They used to continue the professions followed
by their parents. Unaware of government scholarships, I have even seen our maid
working hard in many houses to give her child quality education.
With 6% of its people being unemployed., it is challenging for us to be economically
strong. During this pandemic, I have seen many news channels reporting how people
lost their livelihoods and were not being taken back to work even after the pandemic
was over. I have also seen many roadside workers working hard to get paid only a
sheer amount of money. Even though they had minimum qualifications, they could not
get well-paid jobs due to a lack of skills.
I always had a desire to take some initiative to help the needy, and dumbstruck by all
these incidents from my childhood gave me the driving factor to implement our
project. Through this project, I wish to provide them with quality education and skill to
get into well-paid job sectors. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Quality Education for Underprivileged

The project 'Quality Education for Underprivileged' aims to help orphan children to help realize their potential, which starts with connecting and getting to know the areas they lack in. Students in orphanages aren’t able to continue their studies and/or decide on their field of study owing to a lack of guidance among other disadvantages. A few sessions on opportunities and basics of life every month and some donations and food drives will help them move towards a more opportune life for them. The project would help orphan children to lead righteous life by eliminating issues of awareness, and hopefully, poverty.
