" There are a number of opportunities for so many of us to make a significant positive impact on the community around. Working for a cause, and sharing and celebrating progress is what drives me. To make the world a better place for the future, our generation must put in more effort, and be better than the previous one. By participating in the Millennium Fellowship, I aim to continue working to bring education, economic empowerment and gender equality closer, complying with the goals of the SDGs, to my community, country and the world itself. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Vriddhi

Project Vriddhi is an initiative aimed at making people, with special focus on women and the LGBTQ+ community independent by enhancing their knowledge and providing them with essential basic financial literacy. Through this project, we are planning to advance UN Sustainable Development goals 4 (Quality Education), 5 (Gender Equality), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and 10 (Reduced Inequalities). For this project, we conducted a survey which concerned questions about fundamental financial understanding like whether people knew the sum breakup of bills or difference between a debit and a credit card , how much they saved, etc. One of the key question was to rate on a scale of 1 to 5 how independent the respondents think they were while making an financial decision. With the average score being 3.02, only 27.28% of female respondents made financial decisions independently compared to 50.53% of male respondents. The survey indicated that women's empowerment and upliftment in terms of being financially aware needs to be amplified. Through this project, we aimed to bridge this gap between people and spread reliable information with our project.
