" "Being a part of Millennium Fellowship will enable me to work with persons who share my ideals and social visions. I would be able to dedicate myself wholeheartedly to something that is beneficial for society. I would be able to work on my understanding on the societal issues and how to address them on a higher level. Ultimately, Millennium Fellowship would provide me with a platform to connect and collaborate with others and work with them to change the world." "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Kalvi
Kalvi means education in Tamil. Project Kalvi aims at equipping participants from lower socio-economic strata, those who generally have limited access with skills and knowledge that would assist them in personal and professional growth. The project focuses on:
• Providing accessible healthcare check-ups both physical and psychiatric, to a number of students and workers from lower socio-economic conditions.
• Arranging seminars and discussions for the student and workers. These seminars would focus on:
1) sensitisation of mental health – recognizing and assessing the mental conditions of both students and families in which they work.
2) Providing information on possible options available after high school regarding future career in relation to individual interest and aptitude.
3) providing platform to develop professional skills and self-development of students, parents and selected workers of lower socio-economic strata. This may include communication skills( classes on spoken English), interview skills, personal development and etiquettes.
• Aim to conduct personal development classes and seminars once a week. In total about 14 classes would be conducted throughout the duration of the fellowship until December.
