" A natural gravitation has always occupied my heart when it comes to working in the field of human rights and humanitarian aid. Being a part of the Millennium Fellowship will prepare and enhance my experiences. The experiences and skills I gather from the Fellowship will align me further with the future projects I aim to uptake pertaining my said interests. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Noor

Growing up under the influence of feminist ideologies and also to blame it on my sense of empathy, one practice that has constantly agitated me is the endless harassment faced by sex-workers and thhe stigma that is attached with the work that they do. Due to this prevalent stigma, sex workers are denied basic human dignity and have to bare the social, economic and political costs for the same. Hence, the aim of project NOOR is to alter the discriminatory attitudes, amplify the voices and stand for the rights of sex-workers.
To attain these, the following activities have been conducted :
1. Contacted pro-bono health professionals for mental medical counselling for sex-workers.
2. Organized awareness campaigns to eliminate the stigma attached with sex-workers and to normalize conversations involving them and their rights.
3. Attempts were made to impart free tuition to the children of sex-workers.
4. Also, drives for amplifying the voices and promoting the rights of sex-workers in social, economic and political spheres were also conducted to highlight the key concerns.
