" I am very excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it allows me to be a part of this exceptional global community of youth working to improve the world.
Here, I can get the necessary exposure as I'll be able to make connections with others, listening to their stories and motivations behind their work.
It is a perfect opportunity to interact with creative individuals from around the world and increase the impact of our Project by becoming an empathetic and strong leader who can make a difference. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Parwaaz
PROJECT PARWAAZ is a mental health support group, initiated by the students of Indraprastha College of Women, University of Delhi, where all the members try to create a safe space for each other where they can share, talk, learn and grow.
Parwaaz strives to spread positivity and awareness about mental health to break the stigma and help people to live their lives happily and satisfactorily. The word Parwaaz means rising, which is the end goal of our team. It aims to make people conscious about living a mindful life and help them to fight through mental distress by empowering them and guiding them towards more positivity.
The project conducts live sessions and webinars with psychologists, counsellors, and social service workers on various issues related to daily life such as emotional intelligence, self love, mindfulness, and whatnot. The aim of these sessions vary from teaching students ways in which they can cope with anxiety, fear and coping mechanisms and to promote help seeking behaviour.
The project enables its students to discover more about themselves as well as about society and helps us in making the necessary changes to improve the short-term and long-term future of the nation’s well-being.
We work across the full interconnected spectrum of mental health, happiness, and well-being, and we look for practical solutions to solve the problems and help people change their minds.
We also have our Instagram page, @parwaaz_ipcw which works to spread awareness about mental health and wellbeing.
About the Millennium Fellow
Madhvi Sharma is a strong, intellectual, and earnest student of political science at Indraprastha College for women, University of Delhi.
Being born in a small town where topics like mental health were never discussed well, she hopes to destigmatize misconceptions around mental health and help young minds to open up about their mental problems without the fear of judgement.
Through her work with Parwaz, a mental health outreach program, she has sought to spread awareness about various mental health problems.
She feels content that her actions are making an impact and seeks to build a community where mental well being is accessible to all.
Through the Millennium Fellowship, she is excited to spark change along with a community of other like-minded students.
