" Being a part of Millennium Fellowship will help me to align my passion for innovative building with the development of society. I strongly believe that to run the world people go through a lot, and require stress busters to strive back stronger. Therefore, I like to work on mental health issues and healing activities. I believe that the learnings and skills I’ll gain in this journey will help me to make a greater impact in the world. I am gratified that I landed on an opportunity to be in the circle with like minded people who believe in a holistic approach. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Parwaaz

Parwaaz (Mental Care for all)- We believe, we can fly, is a community outreach initiative.
The community works on spreading knowledge about Mental Health practices and conducting webinars on different Mental Health issues. Parwaaz aims to assist the students and society to normalize the discussion of mental health and reduce the stigma associated with it. The purpose of this project is to promote, restore and maintain a positive mental health. According to an estimate of WHO, India has one of the largest populations affected with Mental Illness. The first and the foremost reason for India to have a lowered mental health is the lack of awareness and sensitivity about the issue. To reduce the stigma around mental health, we need to train and sensitize society. This can happen only when we put in concentrated efforts to educate the society about mental health diseases.

There is a need for teenagers and adolescents to be aware of mental health topics that affect their peers and community as well as resources for how to see help. It is important to cultivate practices that support emotional well-being. When mental health is overlooked, it can have detrimental effects on the individual and the community. For this cause, Parwaaz is determined to spread awareness by arranging workshops, counseling sessions etc. We at Parwaaz try to help people to recognize symptoms of mental health diseases and try to connect them to a counselor or therapist. Thus, dedicating efforts to make people realize the fact that mental health is as important as physical health.
