Millennium Fellowship Project: Advancement of Rights of Marginalized Communities

Our university is based in a conflict zone that happens to be the world's most heavily
militarized territory. With human rights violations being commonplace in Kashmir's
theatre of war, civil rights are trampled upon frequently. This leaves the most
disenfranchised groups in the valley particularly vulnerable to harm and injustice, at
the hands of both the state and their fellow citizens. My project seeks to remedy that
on a micro-level through education and empowerment.

About the Millennium Fellow

Mir Syed Ghous is a self-starter with a proactive and simplistic approach to problem-solving and passionate and a curious mind. He origins from the paradise of India, Kashmir. Mir Syed Ghous has delivered successfully in the highly challenging multicultural demographic of J&K. A result-driven pre-law student at the University of Kashmir, he advocates for the advancement of rights of marginalized groups across all spectrums of society. Years of turmoil coupled with widening gaps between the haves and the have-nots have made it impossible for such voices to be heard. Ghous aspires to instill a fundamental understanding of an individual's rights and wants to lead by example.
