Millennium Fellowship Project: Green Kenya

My project is advancing towards creating a green Kenya. It contributes to the attainment of the kenyan forest coverage of 10%forest cover within the kenyan borders. We work as a team of mine. We have a tree nursery within kisii University compound where we raise tree seedlings. We plant tree seeds on a seed bed take care of them until they are matured enough to be transplanted into a potting bag. After transplanting into a potting bag we water them regularly until they are ripe for planting. The matured seedlings we plant them in local primary schools around Kisii town . Alongside tree nursery management, we also collect plastic waste bottles to make them useful again by making aerial gardening, decorations and footstool.

About the Millennium Fellow

Rose Atieno is a cheerful young and passionate lady majoring in laboratory science technology at kisii University. She was born from a humble background in Busia, Kenya and resides in Kisii,Kenya. Currently she is studying in kisii University, Kenya. She is a patriotic and enthusiastic citizen who is determined to change the face of the world by helping the society know the importance of environment. Throughout her high school she was focused not only on her academia but also the environment at large and the well being of people through offering mentorship program and service to the community since she was a self driven scout. She aspires to change the face of the world through attaining the sustainable development goals requirements.
