Millennium Fellowship Project: Promotion of Menstrual Hygiene & Prevention of Teenage Pregnancy

The project targets girls in primary schools and also early secondary, and involves health education sessions on teenage pregnancy, Menstrual hygiene, and other health related talks like Sexually transmitted infections, it also involves the distribution of free reusable pads and also teaching them how to make them. It targets those especially in hard to reach areas and those from the poorest communities in uganda who can hardly afford to buy the sanitary pads and men often take advantage of that to engage in pre marital sex. Our target is to reach out to over 10,000 teenage girls with the information. Through the project, we also partner with other agencies during medical camps to reach out to those rural girls like during camp Bukedea, Rotaract camps and also Bulamu health care camps and we also participate in social skilling the teenagers so they don't appear so vulnerable to be take advantage of.
