" The Millennium Fellowship program is trying to bring students together who are willing to implement a non-profit project with a high social impact. The students who are accepted to this program are sensitive to the problems around them and eager to raise social awareness. I am very pleased and honored to have been chosen as a Millennium Fellow because when gathered with other Millennium Fellows the topic will be about how the projects can be implemented and how to make them better, rather than the difficulties of the project! "

Millennium Fellowship Project: International Students Societal Integration Project

Since the start of this year, I have been staying with an international classmate from Jordan. I knew about some difficulties he faced during the first two years regarding adapting to a new culture and language. That's why we decided to work on making it easier for international students to adapt to the university environment. The aim of our project is to accelerate this process with seminars to be given to all students, various social activities, and special integration lessons for international students.

About the Millennium Fellow

Rauf Günsay is a bright and talented medical student at Koç University eager to reduce inequalities. In high school, he helped hearing impaired students with their lessons on a weekly basis. Starting university, he wanted to tackle inequality more broadly and got selected to a well-known non-profit organization Young Guru Academy (YGA). Thanks to this community, he introduced science to students in underpriveleged rural provinces of Turkey, provided various training and health aids to immigrants, and, above all, instilled in children the idea that they could have a better future for themselves. With his voluntary work, Rauf aims to help creating a world, in which people have equal chances to succeed.
