" I have always believed that to create a global impact, you have to start with a local impact. As a person who is aware of current inequalities that threaten students' education, I believe Millennium Fellowship will give me the opportunity to fight against these difficulties. I am looking forward to work with my peers and create a more equal environment. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Beyond the Limitations

In Turkey, as income inequality rises, its consequences are getting more visible. Without doubt, students are part of the people who got affected deeply, as the cost of education has increased. My project's aim is the economically disadvantaged middle and high school students in Istanbul. Beyond the Limitations will encourage Koç University students to cooperate in order to help these students. Participants actions will be based on volunteering. The project's motto will be "Teach, Draw and Play". The motto demonstrates the focus points of the project: educational support (e.g. teaching math to a student), art activities (e.g. teaching how to play a piano) and play (e.g. playing football together). All of these activities will fill the void, otherwise it is too expensive for a student to reach these opportunities. My project will be using a Facebook group/website in order to cooperate with Koç students. Volunteers and target students will make contact online.
