Millennium Fellowship Project: Healthcare for All
My project healthcare for all is a project that targets society as a whole, since it aims to reduce health disparities and create health equity. The idea of this project came out when I was doing my community pharmacy internship at one of the poor neighborhoods in Lebanon. At that time, it was devastating to daily see the disappointment of people leaving the pharmacy unable to get their medication due to drug shortages or even the economic crisis Lebanon was and still is going through. What was even harder to witness was that people who required diagnosis for some serious conditions couldn’t afford it and so were dependent on the pharmacist to treat their condition. Moreover, I noticed a lot of people were afraid to get the generics even if they couldn’t afford or find the brand medications just because they didn’t have enough health knowledge or even had some misconceptions about generics. From here was born the idea behind my Millennium Fellowship project which works towards advancing SDG3: good health and well-being in addition to SDG 10: Reduced inequalities
