" It is one thing to say that a person would like to elicit a large-scale, remarkable change and talk about it without having a plan of action or at least a solid foundation to back up his/ her vision. It is a completely different thing to actively put in the work needed to see that vision come to life . I am excited to for this chance to delve deeper into the SDGs on my campus, with a proper and organised foundation. Moreover, the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals will hopefully allow us to have a social impact which might seem short-term, but in reality, plays a pivotal role in the grand scheme of things. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Nshira

So many small businesses have suffered and continue to suffer the consequences of the Beirut blast and economic recession. My goal is to launch an Instagram page, as a starting point at least, in which my friends and I are able to try, interview, explore, and promote these enterprises. Hopefully through word of mouth and social media circulation, we would be able to reach new groups of potential customers and people open to help these stores and gravitate their attention towards them. If proven to be beneficial on a larger scale, then we could possibly collaborate with Non-Governmental Organizations that have similar ideas and stances aligning with those of this project.

About the Millennium Fellow

Rassel Narsh is an outspoken, dedicated, and goal-driven accounting and international business student at the Lebanese American University of Beirut. Her competitive nature and passion for voicing out her opinions concerning both social and philanthropic issues is what pushed her towards programs and initiatives such as this one. Throughout middle school and high school, she made sure to actively advocate for human rights by participating in the debate club, clean up and civic engagement committees, the Model United Nations (MUN), and the Model Arab League (MAL). Towards the end of highschool, she became her school's MUN advisor, and she proudly continues to work in the programs during her university years, where she was a trainer the first year, and a Model Good Governance Senior Secretariat Board member currently in her second year. She wishes to continue along this path by participating in, and hopefully one day founding, Non-Governmental Organisations that fight for the rights that were forcefully taken away from undeserving individuals.
