" "A healthy outside starts from the inside". I am hoping that the Millennium Fellowship program would help me enhance my abilities to have both interpersonal and individual interventions that will help evolve the communities that need our help. The skills that I will acquire will make my dream of becoming a community nutritionist more palpable and bring me one step closer to my goals. I'm also excited to learn from my collegues of different majors; I believe it helps me grow as a person to better help people in need. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Tag Along
"Tag Along" is a project aimed to help the Lebanese community in reaching their health goals after having suffered from the Beirut port blast, the Covid lockdown and their ongoing economic struggles. These factors have severely affected the Lebanese community's mental health and ecocomic status decreasing their healthy food options and their ability to exercise/join gyms or engage in any form of physical activity. Tag Along is a platform that will help engage different groups in the community depending on their location, age and gender to create an encouraging environment full of support. This platform will create the support groups and send them various physical activities and nutrient dense recipes that they can do together or seperately (marathons, work outs, dance lessons etc), and it will allow them to send messages/pictures to eachother when they complete each activity. This will not only elevate their well-being, but also allows them to make new friends in close proximity which they can talk to about their similar problems/interests which will help their mental health to a great extent. I will start implementing this in the Lebanese American University using WhatsApp after having them fill a very short form in my Tag Along booth. It can easily be implemented within the next month.
