Millennium Fellowship Project: Education: A Tool to Alleviating Poverty

Education; is a tool to alleviating poverty.
“Education is a powerful driver of development and one of the strongest instruments for reducing poverty, improving health, gender equality, peace, and stability.”
Our project was based on UNAI Goals 1 and 3, which are: addressing poverty through education, and Education for All, ensuring educational opportunities for all regardless of gender, race, religion/ ethnicity.
After deliberating on this, we came up with a project title that will address both goals at the same time during the project we spoke extensively on the project Title, enlighten the students on SDGs, and career choices after secondary school and had a quiz session where all participants were given a certificate.

About the Millennium Fellow

I'm Faith Atewologun a 5thyear medical student of ladoke Akintola university of Technology Ogbomoso Nigeria
For the past 5 years, I've been at the centre of activities geared toward challenging the norm and redefining the status quo regarding the system of medical training in my school which makes about 5 students in every class from sets past and present lose their minds for reasons ranging from the bulky syllabus, verbal intimidation by teachers and conducive learning environment.
I was a member of the mental health club of my medical student association and organized the First mental health symposium for my Fellow medical students and other students in the university community talking to them about pointers to take note of when their mental health seems to be tossed, provided staff support for students to access regularly and I was made the only student member of the faculty mental health advisory committee which I report directly to the Dean of Clinical science about students who are affected already making sure I provide support in terms of the clinic, class attendance and drug compliance.
I've engaged my community through Infectious and non-communicable diseases Awareness campaigns on days like world tuberculosis day, world hepatitis day, world hypertension day, world hygiene day, international women day....e.t.c visiting markets, streets, houses and schools educating them and driving community services like proper sanitation, promoting clean and potable water, youth inclusiveness in leadership and climate change.
