Ladoke Akintola University of Technology | Ogbomosho, Nigeria | Advancing SDG 4 & UNAI 1
" For me, helping people is always like a dream come true, which is the main reason for my work. I've always been in similar situations, and I believe that in this way I can give something back, stimulate their inner spirit and tell them that their dreams, no matter where they come from, are still valid. The skills I gain from the program will greatly enhance my social impact, especially through networking with like-minded people. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Education: A Tool to Alleviating Poverty
Education; is a tool to alleviating poverty.
“Education is a powerful driver of development and one of the strongest instruments for reducing poverty, improving health, gender equality, peace, and stability.”
Our project was based on UNAI Goals 1 and 3, which are: addressing poverty through education, and Education for All, ensuring educational opportunities for all regardless of gender, race, religion/ ethnicity.
After deliberating on this, we came up with a project title that will address both goals at the same time during the project we spoke extensively on the project Title, enlighten the students on SDGs, and career choices after secondary school and had a quiz session where all participants were given a certificate.
About the Millennium Fellow
Jayeola Taofeek Akinloye is a content writer, speaker, and nursing student at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology. He has always been passionate about social injustice and helping people in underserved communities, which led him to start a foundation in 2019. Over the years, he has consistently advocated for people living in impoverished conditions to alleviate poverty and improve their standard of living. He has always been an opportunist and believes that we can achieve more with little or no resources, regardless of our background, gender, religion and ethnicity. During his time in secondary school and currently in university, he has advocated for the oppressed, fought for those who cannot speak for themselves, and helped the vulnerable reach their optimal potential. He believes it is appropriate to make his contribution to the development of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals primarily through his foundation.
