Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Vidya

The education one receives majorly shapes their lives. The increase in number of
students being admitted in schools may seem like a relief on one hand, but the struggle does not end here. SDG 4 talks not about education, but Quality Education, and this is the cause Project Vidya focuses on. Project Vidya works towards
providing quality education to such EWS students because educating them leads to a cycle of change. Most of them are often first generation learners and if they receive a good education, they could break this chain of illiteracy amongst their family and
beyond.
Thus, Project Vidya provides free, after school classes for underprivileged students.
These classes are conducted for primary level students associated with an NGO, and
help them refine their basic English skills.

About the Millennium Fellow

Nishtha Kaushik was born in India, from very beginning she has been very responsive to societal happenings around her, she was drawn to study it closely and hence she is now pursuing Sociology, she loves to be on the field, she was a part of Enactus and is an amateur Sociological research enthusiast. As she lives in a third world nation, it was hard for her to not to be affected by the events happening around her, whether it was helpless women on the roads or children begging on the streets, she felt the need to at least start somewhere for alleviation of status of these people and not be a mere spectator. She was always engaged in events and activities in High School that were about leadership and social change, she with her council in School pushed no use of Plastic on Campus and counselling for women about sexual health .Being a Millennium Fellow provided her with a platform to start what she wants to do in life and that too under the guidance of trained professionals.
