" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it will surely improve my network, leadership and social skills as I will meet and interact with my Fellow Millennium Fellows and also mentors on my campus.
The skills I will gain from this will help me when interacting with people around me and take my social impact on my community and schools more tangible and in line with the UNAI principles and Sustainable development goals. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Nkiruka Educational Program

During the last quarter of 2021, there was rise in the use of Methamphetamine locally known as mkpuru mmiri. This further increased the use of drugs and it’s abuse especially amongst the youths in my village. My villiage is Umuriam located in Nawfia, Njikoka local Government of Anambra State. These same category of youths are always harassing residents late at night and looting unprotected shops. There is a need to add to the already existing programs already taking place in my village to curb this vice. As a soon to be beneficiary of scholarship scheme aimed at reducing these vice, I see the need to further extend this benevolence to secondary school pupils. I intend to provide scholarship grant and mentorship programs for students in secondary schools. The tuition fee for government schools is my locality is 5000 naira. As a beneficiary of Nigeria empowerment program (N-power batch C stream 2) which will be starting very soon, I intend to channel some of my salary into these scheme. I will budget to provide 30,000 naira every term (3 months) for the 5 tuition fees and logistics for their selection and mentorship program. In addition, I hope to collaborate with youth leaders and church leaders to provide textbooks and increase the number of intake for the scholarship. I intend in a 3 year period to have at least 50 pupils in the scheme with monthly mentorship programs. The scheme will be named after my late mom as a tribute for her love for education and the desire to improve the educational level of people around her. I hope that on a termly review of the performance of the students, there will be a rise in the academic performance, life and personal skills of the students.
