Millennium Fellowship Project: Sagyan

Project Sachet is the name of our project where we plan to conduct a legal literacy program in a secondary level school, Bhakti International Academy located in Hattigauda of Kathmandu District. The students especially teenagers are curious about the legal asprcts of basic human rights in their daily liife.
Although few aspects of fundamental rights and child rights are incorporated in their curriculum, children being a vulnerable and sensitive group of society lack access to justice and remedial measures when it comes to the issues of harassment, bullying, child sexual abuse and domestic violence. A crimeless society is more than a distant dream, but we as a law student can work towards improving the legal consciousness and preventing illegal and criminal behaviour among teenagers. Teenagers, in the psysiological and psychological growth stage, are easily influenced by numerous socially negative beliefs and behaviours and thus, we are strongly committed to the cause. There is no doubt Nepal has a strong institutional and legal system for rendering justice when it comes to child rights but children who are more prone to being victims of numerous crimes are unknown about the institutions when they can seek justice. Thus, we plan to be a bridge between justice and potential victim.
We have planned this project with a long term view of improving the legal education of juveniles to enhance the nation's overall quality, resulting in impacting a whole new generation. The word 'Sachet' itself has it's Nepali meaning which means "Alert" or "aware". To conduct this project, we aspire to coordinate with child rights organizations, helpline providers, cyber bureau, human rights advocates, and youth.
we are also starting the policy research, fundraising programs, calls for volunteers, in order to meet our financial and technical expenses for this project.
