" Innocent minds are most prone to become victims of the crime. With the initiative of the Sagyan (Legal Literacy Campaign), I would really be grateful to share whatever I have studied and learnt. Millennium Fellowship will make my social impact on the school at local levels more aligned with the SDG goals. This will help me in boosting my leadership quality and reaching to impact even more lives. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Sagyan

The word “Sachet” means to make someone aware in Nepali language. We, with this project, are trying to help the students of underprivileged schools on the outskirts and within the valley to make them aware of their rights and remedies. As a law student myself, I want to advocate more for the rights of the unheard. We had conducted few seminars, questioners and sessions for the students of 12-16 at the Bhakti Academy, Hattigauda, in Kathmandu. The output was quite unexpected. They are not familiar with what the nation has provided for them. Unlike the most privileged schools, students in these targeted areas are not quite familiar with the child rights, civic sense and its remedies as well. A lot of children are assaulted and may have toxic relationships with their own relatives and teachers. However, their innocent minds think that this is how it is supposed to be. We will help them reach out to the helpline numbers and share the bullying or any unpleasant experiences with their family members, administration or the respective concerned authorities as well. These innocent minds cannot be put at stake from a very early stage. It’s high time we take necessary actions for the people who will become the leaders of tomorrow.
