National Law University Delhi | Delhi, India | Advancing SDG 3 & UNAI 6
" Being a part of the Millennium Fellowship, our main focus will be to present a legal perspective on sexual and reproductive health issues, and raise awareness about the rights and provisions provided to people regarding Menstruation and menstrual leave, Sex education/Consent/Contraceptives. During the course of this project, we would be focusing on students across different law universities and informal women workers (Housekeeping and maintenance staff) on our campus and familiarizing them with these concepts as well as their rights.
Through this project, we want to help elevate their general health and well-being by providing them access to sustainable products and raising much-needed awareness around their reproductive and sexual health. Our personal interactions with the staff have made us realize that they do not have people who initiate conversations on these topics with them. We have witnessed that this is a common occurrence in the students as well. We want to reduce the conversational gap and expand the discourse on sex education. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Meraki: For all
The educated and progressive classes of India still shy away from the mere fact that there is a need to be aware of one’s sexual and reproductive health. This project aims to start a dialogue on a topic that is still considered taboo, even in the most metropolitan areas of India, namely, Sexual and Reproductive Health. The dialogue around this topic is not something new but we hope to bring in a new approach.
