" The Millennium Fellowship allows me to work on a project with an impact and bring some changes with tangible results. I also look forward to networking with like-minded individuals from across the world through the MCN. Further, the workshops organised in the course of the Fellowship will help me sharpen skills that are essential to me as a law student-- leadership and organisational skills, as well as soft skills such as communication, team work and time management. Overall, the Fellowship will allow me to become a better citizen today and an even better lawyer tomorrow. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Meri Kahaani Suno

Project Meri Kahaani Suno is an initiative to share the complex stories of women from Haryana, India. Our research will entail understanding problems related to gender, environment and sustainability faced by Haryanvi women and how they are dealing with them in their communities.

The location was selected not only because our University is situated in the state, but also because statistics show that Haryana has the lowest female sex ratio in our country. 68.82% of women are unemployed in the state. The most recently available data on literacy rates in Haryana shows that only 55.73% of women are educated. We want to know why conditions are so in the state and what women’s everyday lives look like in such conditions.

Post this, we’d like to convey our findings to people through the art of storytelling, by compiling the stories into a Coffee Table Book. In an effort to make our research and production as sustainable as possible, we will partner with local small businesses for printing the book and will use recycled material to the best of our ability.

We hope to positively impact the lives of the local womenfolk around us and also the lives of students aspiring to be changemakers.
