" As a person with many ideas and projects in furtherance of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, I figured that what I lacked was a platform or medium through which I could channel this passion. This Millennium Fellowship program is such a platform wherein I can successfully pitch my ideas and try to implement my plans. Apart from this, I feel this Millennium Fellowship program could inculcate much-needed systemic thinking, a virtue I feel is extremely important for anyone in the legal field. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Collective Action Ressuscication (CAR)

CAR is a project that aims to install solar power panels in my univerity campus. It acts in firtherance of SDG 13.

About the Millennium Fellow

Samyuktha Kannan is a bright, young, and intrinsically curious individual pursuing her second year of law at Jindal Global Law School. She was born in a small french colony in the south of India called pondicherry and grew up speaking several languages, including French, German, English, Tamil, and Hindi. For as long as she can remember, Samyuktha has always been passionate about social advocacy especially surrounding women's rights, environmental conservation, and Human rights. It was this ingrained desire that she chose to study law. Legal advocacy, in this sense and for her, has always meant using the legal platform to uphold the propagation of knowledge and opportunities to those who do not have the resources or know-how to fight for their rights. Samyuktha also has extensive experience writing, a task she finds highly cathartic. Having previously published many legal research articles, she is actively working on pieces surrounding socio-legal rights. Apart from this, Samyuktha is a Grade 8, trained theatre artist, having acquired her degree from Trinity College London. After graduation, she wishes to pursue a career in International Law and hopes to contribute as much in furthering the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
