Millennium Fellowship Project: Mental Health and You

The project aims to enlighten and sensitize students of Osun State University and secondary schools in Osogbo, Nigeria, on mental health and how they can take proper care of it.

The project focuses on educating students on the causes, symptoms and prevention of different forms of mental illnesses and how people can seek help from from loved ones and professional therapists to successfully manage mental illness.

The project also helps to demystify myths surrounding mental illness and discourage stigmatization and discrimination against people with mental illness.

About the Millennium Fellow

Obi Jewel is a medical student at the Osun state university. She was born in Nigeria, she also resides and studies in the same. Since high school, Jewel has been passionate about good health and well-being(SDG3), climate action(SDG13), peace, justice and strong institutions(SDG16). This has caused her to take up leadership roles and involve herself in related activities. She has successfully carried out both offline and online sensitization on how our activities affect the planet, and eventually our health. Jewel aspires to be a professional in public health advocacy and also desires to inspire and equip many more people to achieve the same. She envisions a future where she has tangible impact in achieving Sustainable development goals.
