Millennium Fellowship Project: Compost It
Compost It is a project that aims to actively engage communities in, and highlight the importance of recycling wet waste. While recycling is an essential step that must be followed upon segregating waste, it is oftentimes neglected, due to the lack of an established recycling system. This directly impacts a community's waste management efficiency and sustainability. Therefore, this project intends to encourage household composting practices, by primarily using two methods - collecting wet waste from the immediate community and composting it on a regular basis; and conducting household composting sessions which would enable each household to recycle their waste. Needless to say, the compost produced would be used as a fertilizer.
About the Millennium Fellow
Deeksha Suresh is a senior Biotechnology student at PES University, in Bangalore, India. She takes a keen interest in sports, music and Netflix shows, and enjoys interacting with people. Deeksha believes that a true sense of accomplishment ensues when one works on something they truly believe in, and something that others benefit from. With the Millennium Fellowship, she hopes to make a difference and create a positive impact on communities, thereby gaining that sense of accomplishment.
