" "I am elated to be a Millennium Fellow because I am enabled to do the justice seeking work that I am passionate about alongside like-minded peers. I am also looking forward to receiving the benefits of mentorship as a student leader. Our cohort has a collaborative mindset and I am so excited to have the opportunity to get our community involved in this project as well as lead it." "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Caught in the Middle: Analyzing the Impact of Migration Policy at the San Diego-Tijuana Border
Our project incorporates both sides of the San Diego-Tijuana border. We are going to conduct a hands-on research project with the goal of reducing inequality between our two countries. This is especially in conjunction with with the supreme court ruling that is going to happen in June, 2022. We really want to uncover how people feel about immigration policy and find out what sort of advocacy work and policy would effectively build bridges in our community. We will conduct interviews with border patrol, asylum seekers, and Tijuana residents. We want to educate our campus and get our peers involved in this pursuit by working with organizations like our student-run newspaper, The Point, The Center for Justice and Reconciliation, and our student diversity organization, MOSAIC.
