Millennium Fellowship Project: Caught in the Middle: Analyzing the Impact of Migration Policy at the San Diego-Tijuana Border

Our project is focused on border policy and how it effects residents of the San Diego-Tijuana area. This relates to the Sustainable Development Goal #10 which focuses on reducing inequality between countries and the UNAI principle #7. We are going to then engage in research that will include interviews with border patrol, asylum seekers, local leaders, and residents of both cities. We also want to do research on whether the country of origin of these immigrants effects the process of asylum seeking and their treatment while in Mexico. We then want to engage in campus education on the issue and share our findings in partnership with clubs and campus ministries.

About the Millennium Fellow

Nathan De Boef is a lover of people and social sciences who cares deeply about his community and those around him and how we can best support those who societies deems outcasts. I love to travel and to study different cultures and hear people's perspectives. I value listening to others and trying to understand where they come from and their walks of life as well as their point of views. Taking time out of my day to connect with others is one of my favorite things to do and I value every interaction I have with people and strive to learn from their experience
