Millennium Fellowship Project: Educational AAPI Advocacy Toolkit

My project involved extensive research regarding major issues that the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community have and continues to face, ultimately choosing to focus on how faculty members including professors and other educators can best support their AAPI students through the personal deconstruction of the Model Minority Myth. The toolkit I inevitably developed broke down varying aspects of the Model Minority Myth from its roots in the idealization of the American Dream to the consequential results of the Myth's existence.

About the Millennium Fellow

Ryan Kai Kinningham is a charismatic, driven, and experienced sophomore studying at Pace University's New York City campus looking to make an impact on the world. A strong believer in the power of holistic, quality education, Ryan has dedicated their entire life to the world of academia; from the quiet town of Mililani, Hawai'i to the bustling city that is New York, they can be found at any hour of the day writing essays, drafting reports, or studying up for upcoming assessments. But beyond the books, Ryan enjoys walks through the city, practicing their shots in archery, and playing the drums (not too loudly, of course). With the sudden spike of anti-Asian discrimination around the world, Ryan hopes to use the Millennium Fellowship to change the way people perceive the AAPI community through education.
