" "Being a Millennium Fellow is a great gift I am grateful to receive. The knowledge that awaits me is worth pursuing and the wonderful people I will meet are worth getting excited about. I have never been a part of a Fellowship, so this is a breath of fresh air. Furthermore, I care about the issue of Women's Empowerment because I consider myself to be empowered within my rights. Women all over the world have different stories, just like me, and I believe they are worth telling." "

Millennium Fellowship Project: The Letter Project

The Letter Project is a campus project that involves uplifting girls and women all over the world through letter writing. Every Monday, my project members (alongside the supervisor) and I gather and read about what various girls/women are going through, in their own words. We then decide on who to write to and write a letter to encourage them in the situations they find themselves in. We also learn how to knit to distress during that time.

About the Millennium Fellow

Lulu Okeke is a student at Pace University pursuing a degree in Global Studies. She was born and raised in Nigeria. However, at the age of 14, her family moved to Brazil and lived there for 3 years. After that, they moved to the United States where she currently resides. Additionally, she considers herself creative and loves participating in Do-It-Yourself (DIY) projects. Lulu has a passion for Women's Empowerment, and she wants to see women become better versions of themselves. Through her project, she hopes that women will feel powerful, despite what life has shown them, and that they will be reminded that there is a great power that lies in everyone, we just have to tap into it. In the future, Lulu will use the skills gained through this Fellowship for good by venturing into different projects that support the cause of Women’s Empowerment.
