" "Unsustainable and environmentally damaging practices harm not only animals, butcommunities as well. With rising sea-levels, drought and extreme climate change, Ibelieve it is crucial to take action immediately, and I am excited to gain priceless skillsfrom the Millennium Fellowship Program to help me put my ideas in to use." Millennium Fellowship Project: Q-Environment

Q-Environment is a campaign to promote sustainable practices related to the environment, such as recycling and composting. We hope to introduce the idea of sustainable consumption and following the reduce, reuse and recycle in that order. One such example would be to promoting the reuse of notes among university students. There is no need to re-print the same slides when one has access to reused notes.
We aim to hold hands-on workshops at our university to encourage people to recycle at home in addition to teaching them the basics of composting and how to avoid single use plastics as well.

About the Millennium Fellow

Haleema Shamil Imamudeen, currently studying Computer Science in Qatar University, has been passionate about the environment for as long as she can remember. Theatmosphere she grew up in was one where littering was common since there were wellpaid workers to clean up after everyone, however she noticed that the wind and wavesoften took litter to places where cleaners could not reach. This started her journey toresearch about what happens to waste after we throw it in the bin, and the reality of the vast amount of energy required to recycle or dispose of rubbish and theimportance of sustainable practices and products.
