" Leadership skills, problem-solving, decision-making, and serving the community were the main reasons for me to join the Millennium Fellow. Being a part of the Millenniumperson will help sharpen these skills. I hope to work towards my goals and dream of eradicating poverty, malnutrition, and hunger in my country. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Agritoto Farm

The Agritoto farm is a small agribusiness aiming to work with smallholder farmers to pass from subsistence farming to market-oriented farming. The project focuses on but is not limited to rabbit keeping, animal feeds production, and the promotion of conservation of agriculture principles. The mission of this project aims to ensure food security, zero hunger, and a society with no malnutrition through the production and distribution of good quality and accessible breeds of rabbits to smallholder farmers and also the rabbit for meat to my community. More than 75% of Rwandans are in the Agricultural sector and the majority of them are smallholder farmers, they carry out agriculture for only home consumption. This is the best time to address this problem because it is been long smallholder farmers struggling and facing poverty, it’s time to take this to the end.

About the Millennium Fellow

Thadee Ubayeho is a student at Rwanda Institute for Conservation. He was born in the southern province of Rwanda in the Ruhango district. When he was young, he dreamed of becoming a catholic priest or a Mechanical engineer. In high school, he did mathematics, physics, and chemistry with an outstanding performance. After observing how the farmers in his home area are struggling to get basic needs, poverty, poor methods of farming,... He decided to study the conservation of agriculture with the aim of coming back to rural areas to help his home community to improve agriculture. His goal now is to help smallholder farmers to walk toward market-oriented farming.
