" Something that excites me about becoming a Millennium Fellow is building a community at the UN with like-minded peers who reside in different areas across the globe. For many students, our passion for service derives from our personal experiences. My story, along with other individuals' stories is unique, which serves a major role in service as it gathers a diverse set of passions that can cater to a variety of people. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Futures for LGBTQ+ Homeless Youth

The project is designed to provide LGBTQ+ youth who are experiencing homelessness with the tools needed to enter the workforce or attend a higher education institution. Through peer mentorship, youth can gain assistance in resume building, essay writing, tutoring, scholarship searching, and much more. By doing so, greater hope for the future can be brought to youth who are experiencing homelessness.

About the Millennium Fellow

Ryan Devine is a highly involved first-generation psychology and law, justice, and advocacy student at Salisbury University. Born in Cape May, NJ, he became increasingly involved in service from a young age as he saw how socioeconomic and social equity were pressing issues in his area. He carried those passions with him as these dilemmas became more prevalent in his local college town of Salisbury, MD. He is most invested in education policy, youth advocacy, LGBTQ+ policy, housing policy, international law, and the modern-day impacts of redlining and redistricting. Ryan hopes to continue this work as he seeks Ph.D. programs in relevant fields and to pursue a career in public and international affairs.
