" I feel that working for the things that one truly believes in, gives altogether a different sense of satisfaction, and, taking care of our environment is something that I truly want to work for. With the help of this Fellowship, I will be able to gain expertise from leaders across the
globe to acquire skills such as leadership, creativity, and problem-solving.I feel that this is an important opportunity for me as training by leaders and interaction
with all the millennial Fellows will help me to grow this project and develop a sense of responsibility to create a legacy amongst my Fellow juniors. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Segregation at Source

The world population runs in billion and the amount of plastic waste produced by the entire population is more than 300 million tons. The statistics highlight that around 94% of waste is not recycled and it is not a disputed fact that mismanagement of plastic and other waste directly contributes to the challenge of climate change. Our inspiration for this project came from these alarming numbers. It consists of 3 main elements that are the introduction of segregated bins at the institutional level, awareness sessions, and, introducing an integrated platform to connect recycling agencies with our target organisations.
1. SEGREGATED BINS AS 'COLLECTION BANKS'- Introduction of 2-Concept bins for the collection of dry non-Biodegradable waste and E-waste followed by weekly collection drives by recycling agency.
2. AWARENESS SESSIONS- Our goal is to ensure door-to-door awareness sessions on the importance and process of segregation of waste at the source. These will be referred to as 'Collection Banks' because our goal is to make people believe that their segregated waste is an investment to a sustainable future.
3. INTEGRATED PLATFORM- We will start our project by organising weekly collection drives and have been in touch with a NOIDA-based recycling agency. Our ultimate motive is to create a platform where we could connect recycling agencies with our target organisations such as educational institutions and offices.
